Final Paper (100 Points) For this paper, you are to review a movie or TV show that depicts one of the psychological disorders that we talked about in class. Please make sure to have all the components below in your paper to receive full credit. Summary (5 points) Please provide a summary of the movie, including a description of the character displaying the psychological disorder. Please make this summary brief – no more than 1-2 paragraphs. Abnormal Behavior (10 points) Please talk about the abnormal behavior displayed by the character. Make sure to talk about which D’s the character demonstrates (deviance, distress, dysfunction, and dangerousness). Diagnosis (20 points) What is the diagnosis of the character? Was the diagnosis explicitly stated or was it implied? What symptoms from the diagnostic checklist did the character demonstrate? How many percent of Americans currently live with the disorder? Cause of the Disorder (30 points) Please talk about the cause of the disorder from THREE of the perspectives we talked about in class (biological, cognitive, behavioral, sociocultural, psychodynamic, and humanistic). You need to have at least one paragraph for each perspective. Then, talk about how you think the character developed the disorder (you can talk about a single cause or talk about how you think multiple different factors played a role in the development of the disorder). Treatment (30 points) Please talk about THREE types of treatments you would recommend for this character and why you chose this treatment. You need to have at least one paragraph for each type of treatment. Make sure to explain the treatment in detail, including the techniques used during treatment and the type of treatment this would fall under (cognitive-behavioral, family treatment, etc.). Formatting/Spelling/Grammar (5 points) Your paper should be 4-6 pages in length. Please make sure that your paper is 12-point Times New Roman font with 1-inch margins. I will deduct points for spelling and grammar errors. Please use your book and class notes. You do not need to cite your book or class notes.
