Each student is expected to identify 2-3 practices, philosophies, and/or trends that create challenges for adult learners in the workplace. Students are encouraged to draw from historical and current events, workforce statistics, and journal articles to:
Explain what contributes to disparities in workplace learning and/or development
Recognize what strategies have been employed to address the disparities
Describe the role of human resource developers to minimize the gap
Students should narrow their focus to a particular group (e.g. first-generation college students), or protected class (e.g. race, sex, national origin, age, religion, disability etc.). Additionally, students do not have to use a specific adult learning theory to frame their paper, but they are encouraged to use concepts, terms, and/or philosophies that relate to adult learning and adult learners.
Students are expected to meet these objectives in a 7 – 8 page research paper (double-spaced, 12pt font, Times New Roman, APA format and guidelines, reference page, and title page). Students must follow the above criteria for submissions to be eligible for grading.
