Keep in mind that we are studying 3 major elements in this course:
Basic Bible knowledge
How to read the Bible more effectively
How people use the Bible to frame a Christian worldview.
In particular, I want you to pay attention to some of the problems of reading the text and be able to list out not only the problems but also the promises of different interpretations. Many Christians today read the Bible and make the Bible conform to what they already believe or what they hear from someone else. Can we read into the Bible whatever we want? What keeps us from doing this?
This will prepare us for some of the work next week: big ideas or themes. So be thinking of this–after 2,000 years of Christianity how have we developed a Christian worldview? And also be thinking about this: how have you developed your own particular worldview and your own particular agenda when you read the Bible?
Your answer must reference the corresponding reading in the Foundations workbook and the video on Canvas. If you do not reference these sources, you will receive a zero on this assignment. You must begin learning how to use sources in your answers.
