This table should minimally have these variables:
Number of beds
The number of people utilized to staff the patient care unit.
The number of FTE’s to staff the patient care unit.
By role
By shift
My goals for this assignment are two-fold:

Sharing to see how other organizations approach the same challenge.

The sample created a very simple table to depict the number of staff needed for a 10 bed unit. The table includes
Number of staff for day shift by role
FTE for day shift by role
Number of staff for day shift total
Number of FTE for day shift total
Number of staff for night shift by role
FTE for night shift by role
Number of staff for nightshift total
Number of FTE for night shift total
As well as total number of staff personnel needed to staff the unit in a 24 hour period as well as the corresponding total number of FTE in a 24 hour period.
At my hospital, RNs (typically) only work 12 hour shifts, or 0.9 FTE… including charge nurses. The nurse managers work M-F, 8 hour shifts, or 1 FTE. CNAs/techs varry in that they sometimes work 12 hour shifts (usually on nights/0.9 FTE), and some work 8-hour shifts 5 days a week (1 FTE) and others work 4-hour shifts 5 days a week (0.5 FTE) to fill in the gaps.
