Introduction:
Begin your paper with a discussion of the worldwide division of labor and how El Salvador and the United States fit into the global stratification system.

End this section with an organizing thesis or question.
Body of the paper (no section headings are required):
Describe the gendered nature of immigration.
How are motherhood and fatherhood understood in El Salvador, and how do these beliefs influence the reasons for why mothers and fathers migrate to the United States? How do mothers and fathers fare in the United States (include examples related to their physical, social and financial well-being). How do gendered expectations of the parenting role influence how much mothers and fathers send back to their families in El Salvador?
Describe immigration and workforce policies.
How do U.S. immigration policies and workforce practices influence the experiences mothers, fathers, and their transnational families have?
Describe the consequences for children, parents, & extended family members.
Be sure to discuss the varieties of experiences parents have both in their journeys to the United States, their abilities to return to El Salvador, and their ability to provide for their families.
Conclusion:
Provide your analysis of whether family separation is worth it, providing examples for your reasoning.
