Explicit Teaching Project :
Including the elements of explicit teaching in your teaching.  (20 points)
•    Refer to the Sixteen Elements of Explicit Teaching (Explicit Instruction: Effective and efficient teaching.  Chapter 1 pages 2 – 3)
•    For this assignment you will refer to the lesson plan that you have developed according to the needs of your students.
•    You will consider each of the sixteen elements of explicit teaching. You will prioritize 10 elements as you complete your project.
•   
Including explicit instruction  – 10 points
Describe how you will explicitly include each of the ten elements you prioritized while teaching your  lesson. 
Differentiation within your lesson – 3 points
How will you differentiate in order to address the needs of your Students with Disabilities and other struggling students in your lesson. How will you address the needs of advanced students? If you are addressing a small group discuss how you will address the needs of each member of the group.
Standards and goals – 3 points
How will you include the needs of your students while addressing standards and IEP goals and mandates.
Collaboration and planning – 2 points
Many of your students interact with professionals in addition to their classroom teacher. How will you share your plans for your students with your colleagues?
Vocabulary/Spelling/APA 2 points 
Very few errors should be made for the full two points in this category. The vocabulary that is used within the paper should reflect what is being learned in the classroom as well as in courses at Brooklyn College. Using appropriate teacher language is necessary for certification purposes as well as communication within a school setting.
