Find and identify sections in your local hazard mitigation plan that discuss, map, or calculate measures on the socio-economic make-up of the community incl. populations with functional needs.
Answer the following questions (in full sentences):
Does your local hazard mitigation plan detail the socio-economic characteristics of the local community? If so, what population characteristics are discussed (e.g., type of variables/characteristics).
How are populations captured in the plan? Is it just Census data or did the plan include some form of social vulnerability index?
How (if at all) did the plan combine social vulnerability information with physical vulnerability (i.e. hazard information)?
Do any of the proposed mitigation action aim to reduce social vulnerability?
How do you assess the quality of social vulnerability information contained in the plan?
How could the jurisdiction improve on the quality of its social vulnerability assessment?
