Annotated Biography

Think of this as your “read receipt” for the assigned material.
This activity will provide you with the opportunity to practice generating a useful academic resource that demonstrates your engagement with scholarly research on race – the annotated bibliography. This tool is useful for articulating your understanding of secondary sources, highlighting key ideas, and evaluating the resource in a concise and coherent way. Annotated bibliographies are useful tools that support other modes of production such as research articles, policy reports, museum exhibits, media production, speeches and presentations, social movements and activism, as well as the arts and humanities.
Please create an annotated bibliography for the following readings:
These readings have been previously assigned and are located in the modules.
Alamillo, J. M. (2000). Bitter-sweet communities: Mexican workers and citrus growers on the California landscape, 1880–1941. In Embry, J. L. (Ed.). (2013). Parts of an Annotated Bibliography (taken from Purdue OWL Links to an external site.)
Your annotated bibliography should include four elements: the citation, a summary, an assessment, and a personal reflection. Click the link above (Purdue) for more information about annotated bibliographies.
Citation: A list of the elements that reference a work (book, article, etc.), that may include the title of the work, the author/editor, publisher, date published, volume, issue, and, if from the internet or a database, the url or doi Links to an external site..
Summary: Some annotations merely summarize the source. What are the main arguments? What is the point of this book or article? What topics are covered? If someone asked what this article/book is about, what would you say? The length of your annotations will determine how detailed your summary is.
Assessment: After summarizing a source, briefly evaluate it. Is it a useful source for understanding race, ethnicity, racism, immigration etc.? Explain.
Reflection: Once you’ve summarized and assessed a source, you need to ask how it fits into your thinking. How does it help you shape your thinking about race, place, and identity? Has it changed how you think about these topics? Explain. Any other thoughts?
Expectations
Each annotation should be around 300 words, 12 point font in one document. Please list them in alphabetical order as I’ve arranged them above. You can use APA, MLA, or Chicago styles of format. You can either enter it directly in the text box or upload a document in either doc/docx or pdf formats only.
Here are some samples of what an annotated bibliography entry should look like from the Online Writing Lab at Purdue University Links to an external site..

Finding a common theme amongst three readings

This paper is for a global studies on gender and sexuality class and is focused on finding a common theme among three readings I’ve included. The focus should be around gender/sexuality and how it exists in economic/social/culture spheres among the three readings. I’ve attached the professor’s instructions along with the readings – they’re pretty dense but it just needs to focus on a global framework that is structured around sexuality/gender. It’s an argumentative essay that focuses on the impact of the common theme and why it’s significant across all three readings. It’s important not to just summarize the work but to focus on your own argument and how the readings relate to each other. The only sources that should be referenced are the ones I’ve included below, you need to do chicago style footnotes when paraphrasing or quoting the authors and include a bibliography at the end

China’s Foreign Policy on Foreign Websites

The paper itself is just a rough draft.
This is the feedback from the instructor: “I like how you found a way of focusing the broader “Internet and Sovereignty” into a very punctual issue. However, this time around, the annotated bibliography takes most of the space, which is good and not so good. The positive side is that most of your research is done and it seems to be very worthwhile. On the other hand, now you need to make all these look like a cohesive paper. For you final draft, my suggestion is simple, get rid of the annotated bibliography by integrating it into the body of your paper, AND work on an interesting conclusion to wrap things up. Looking forward to reading it. Good luck!”
The instruction for the paper:
Pinpoint any foreign policy event or decision that surprises or confuses you, in a country we studied or one to which you have a strong connection. Then, write a 2000-word analytical research paper that explains this event/decision. Your job is to identify such an event or decision, provide some possible reasons for why it occurred, then explain how these reasons contradict or support one another
For your success, the assignment is broken up into several steps:
1. 500-word descriiption of your event or situation and why you find it surprising or confusing.
2. 1500-2000 word rough draft of your paper, together with an annotated bibliography.
3. Final draft, with a standard bibliography, incorporating my feedback on the rough draft.
Please take into account the comments I made when grading your research proposal. Overall, keep the following in mind:
Word count matters: 1420 or 2050 words are fine, not many more or many less [3 points]
The issue under study has to be a foreign policy issue (international in nature, involving two or more countries — 4 points for issue selection). If you still have doubts about your research subject/issue, you may still refer to the suggested topics list.
As much as possible, try to apply what we have been studying in this course:
how history and religion matter in intercultural interactions among nations;
how international institutions/foreign powers may frame the faith of entire populations.
Providing detailed and accurate facts about the issue is important, but I’m looking more for your own analysis: an explanation of WHY the event/decision took place (along with previous bullet item: 10 points)
In line with the point above: Your sources should not be limited to news articles. As much as possible, include material from academic sources
Please look at the plagiarism report as soon as you turn your draft in (anything above 25% or so most likely will result in lost points)

Assignment 6

Find your scores for Autonomy, Competence, and Relatedness, as well as your overall Intrinsic motivation score. These scales show how much your basic needs are being met, which are required for a strong sense of intrinsic motivation (according to the Self-Determination theory of Motivation proposed by Ryan & Deci).
Reflect on your scores. How do you think the fulfillment of these needs builds intrinsic motivation?
High intrinsic motivation scores are also associated with greater success and productivity in the workplace. How do you think this type of motivation can be strengthened in the workplace?
Do you have intrinsic motivation in your workplace, school, or educational program? Why or why not?

Africa, South of the Sahara

Right now I only need a proposal paper for my upcoming research paper. Once my professor approves the proposal, I will make another order using the same writer from this order. I will include the rubric and instructions for the proposal. I basically need you to pose a research question for the current state of Africa. The instructions will have more clarification. I will include them in the files.
