In this discussion, we will examine the economics of the pharmaceutical industry. Marketing accounts for a much larger portion of the expenses in the pharmaceutical industry than in other healthcare industries. The FDA lifted restrictions on TV ads for prescriiption drugs in 1997, allowing manufacturers to advertise drugs without including lengthy disclaimers explaining the often numerous side effects. How has this regulatory change affected the market for pharmaceuticals? Why do you think so much more money is spent on marketing drugs than on marketing surgery or psychotherapy?

Week 7: Course Project: In-Service Training Presentation

The presentation is to represent a simulation of a training or in-service that you present to employees who you are responsible for supervising in an HIM department. The simulation will be made using the PowerPoint you have developed with the actual training simulated by a multimedia recording. As you prepare for this in-service training, you will contact an HIM director in your area to discuss planning your presentation and mentor you through it.
A training program will include an introduction based upon a well formed descriiption of the goals of training. The logical order of the content will be derived from the goals. The content will be properly subdivided into sections derived from the outline. In a quality training program there will be a summary of the previously presented content and will be followed by a post test to demonstrate the knowledge gained by the audience/students.
