The Paper:
Students will choose a person of interest. This person may include a famous actor or actress, a serial killer, a career criminal, or a historical figure. Professor approval is required for the “person of interest”.
Students choose a researcher from the text such as Piaget, Erikson, or Freud. Students may select any researcher on the text.
Students will examine their “person of interest” and report on each stage of development. (see explanation video)
Students will then research each stage of development for the “person of interest”.
Students will then examine which stage of development altered the life of the “person of interest” and how their life outcome resulted from this change. For example, Jeffrey Dahmer was subjected to an abusive father and learned to destroy bones at twelve.
Determine which stage of development was altered and why?
Document each stage of development as a header in the APA research paper format
The paper is in APA format, no less than six pages of content double-spaced with a title and reference page. (see video)
All papers written in a format other than APA will receive a 25-point deduction.
Three empirical research articles, the text, and a video are explicitly required to address the stage of development altered.

Assignment 4 Describe “ageism”. How would you fight ageism? This can be on a small scale such as advocating for your elderly parents or a larger scale, having elderly clients or patients. You might have to go outside of the textbook to support your responses.
Examples of ageism: 1. Your mother needs to return an item to the store and has to go to the Customer Service Desk. The clerk is on the telephone and your mother is the only one in line. Another customer (in his/her 30s) comes to the desk and stands next to your mother. When the clerk gets off the telephone, the clerk asks the younger customer what he/she needs, ignoring your mother.
You work for a training program as an advocate, that provides employment training opportunities to seniors. You are told by your supervisor that you can only help individuals who are between the ages of 55 and 67. Your supervisor believes that people over 67 years of age are too slow and can’t be good workers.
You are a mental health therapist in a community-based mental health agency. You have serious concerns about some of your seniors. Since depression is common among seniors, you want to start a special support group for seniors who present with varying levels of depression. You are told by the agency management that seniors typically do not improve from depression and they will most likely die sooner than later so it isn’t worth the money or time.
