You will write a 2-3 page movie review in current APA format that focuses on a movie with a strong marital theme. You must interact with the movie’s content in a way that helps you understand the impact of movies on the counseling process. Use the following format when completing your Movie Reviews – include the headings below in each of your reviews.
The Review
Give your impression of the movie with a brief plot summary. Resist the urge to retell the entire plot. Share the scenes that had either the greatest impact on your thinking or the most potential for use within the counseling relationship. What aspects should viewers look for if they have not seen the movie? What themes/scenes do you feel warrant further reflection and why?
Therapeutic Implications
Answer the following questions for this segment of the review:
• Having noted the scenes that warrant further reflection, what are the specific counseling values of these scenes for use in the counseling process?
o For example, if you observe emotional outbursts, angry tirades, attempts at connection, empathic listening, etc., point out the scene and the ways it could be used to enhance your client’s understanding of the skill/technique you are teaching.
• Are you using this scene to make an emotional, cognitive, or spiritual connection?
• What is your rationale for choosing these scenes?
Personal/Professional Implications
Answer the following questions for this segment of the review:
• How did you connect with the movie on a personal level?
• How did it confirm or challenge some of your perceptions of marriage?
• How will you utilize this information (personally or professionally) to impact your delivery of counseling services?
• Were there any scenes that you strongly agreed/disagreed with on a personal level and why?

13–15-slide PowerPoint presentation, focusing on a specific drug of your choice. The presentation’s purpose is to provide general information about the drug and then to focus on prevention of abuse. Be creative! It is intended that you could use your presentation as an educational tool for a self-selected audience (e.g., write your presentation to a specific age group). You will be graded on your design, color choice and font size/text. Use images and graphics as appropriate to your design and information.
The purpose of the PowerPoint is that the slides could be used as a teaching tool. All materials used must be paraphrased or summarized and not directly quoted. Do not write in full sentences and paragraphs in this presentation. You are encouraged to use bullet points.
• Title (1 slide) – Title of your presentation and who your audience is.
• Background information about the drug (2 slides) – History of the drug, etc.
• Public Health Issues and Usage trends (1–2 slides) – Is usage increasing or decreasing, and what is the public health effect on society?
• Administration of the drug (1 slide) – How the drug enters the body (may be multiple ways).
• Distribution of the drug (1 slide) – How does the drug travel through the body?
• Site of action of the drug (1 slide) – Where does the drug work in the body? What neurotransmitters are involved?
• Metabolism of the drug (1 slide) – How and where is the drug broken down in the body?
• Excretion of the drug (1 slide) – How does the drug leave the body?
• Current treatment trends for the drug (2–3 slides).
• Outline of your drug use prevention program. You may highlight an already existing program, or create your own. (2–4 slides).
• Reference list must be in current APA format (# of slides as needed).
Follow current APA format for citations as necessary. A minimum of 5 scholarly sources is required for this project.

In your Case Study, you are to first choose an evidence-based counseling theory that we have discussed, or will discuss in class (use Cognitive behavioral therapy). If you would like to choose a theory that has not been addressed in class, you must discuss it with me ahead of time. In your paper, make sure you use the following to support your stance:
1. Describe the client’s problems/challenges in your own words (case conceptualization). What are the factors that you see contributing to these problems?
2. Based upon how you see this client’s problem, which evidenced-base theory would you use to work with this client? Describe in detail why this would be the best approach.
3. Choose appropriate goals for this client.
4. What counseling interventions specific to this theory would you use? Why?
5. Describe several possible positive outcomes for this client due to these interventions.
6. Chose another theory (preferably evidenced-based) and describe how you would work with the
same client using this second theory using the above format.
7. What do you see as the advantages and disadvantages of combing these two approaches with this
client.
8. The Case Study will be based on the individual of your choice, dead or alive/fictional/non-fiction
