Analysis of Athlete Communication Directly from the Professional Athlete

As fans and consumers of sports, the pulse of the industry lies within the professional athlete. Yet, we often times don’t get the opportunity to have 1:1 conversations with them about what their own involvement in the industry off-of-the-court or the field.
During the first 5 weeks of this course we were able to hear directly from professional athletes on their experiences with communication across multiple entities and responsibilities. We heard inside details and had candid conversations across a variety of sports and events as it pertains to their profession.
You are to analyze the top 3 priorities of an athlete’s objectives in communicating from what you have learned so far in hearing from retired and current athletes. You will address what you think these three priorities in communicating should be and how the athlete should go about handling.
Write this paper as if you were trying to help a professional athlete understand what their priorities are in balancing their multiple obligations in a what to do/what not to do sort of way. Use specific examples from class and the guest lecturers to back up your analysis.
The paper should clearly display why the athlete should choose to structure their communications in the way you are suggesting citing other strategies that are similar in effectiveness.
FOCUS on the skills that the athlete will need to effectively communicate.
This paper is NOT a communications plan but almost a short listical of what an athlete should focus on when they are seeking to successfully prioritize and communicate within their full scope of obligations according to what you have learned so far (Mainly Weeks 2, 3 & 4).

Three Coaching Styles
Command Style (the dictator)
Coach makes all decisions
Athletes listen, absorb, and comply
An example of a command coach is Bobby Knight
Submissive Style (the baby-sitter)
Coaches provide minimal instruction and guidance
Coaches lack competence, are lazy, or are misinformed about coaching
Cooperative Style (the teacher)
Coaches share decision making with athletes
The challenge of this style is balancing when to direct athletes and when to let them direct themselves
An example of a cooperative coach is Phil Jackson
Coaching Styles Evaluated
Dismiss the Submissive Style
Command Style is not compatible with Athletes First, Winning Second; it may stifle motivation and development objectives and alienate athletes
Cooperative Style provides structure and rules and allows athletes to set their own goals and strive for them
Cooperative Style coaching is more complex and requires ore skill

Macroeconomics of hosting the World Cup

Chapter 18 of your textbook highlights the importance of sport in an economy. While there can be many benefits, the long-term effect of hosting international sport events needs to be considered. What happens to these arenas after the event is finished?

take a deeper dive and answer the questions listed below. Make sure to answer ALL of the
questions and use sources to support your research. Remember, you can also reach out to the institution to help guide your research (your professors are here to help and can direct you to potential administrators at your institution). Be cautious of using “fluff” information. Stick to the facts!

Research-Based Answers to Practical Problems Part Il

“Discuss the actual validity and reliability of the measures used in these studies. Also, check APA formatting throughout. It is not consistent.” This was the feedback given from the professor. If you could just create a section for validity and reliability at the end of the paper, that would be perfect. Thank you. If there is any questions, please let me know.
