What statistical decision do you make in each case?

Show ALL steps. NOO USING EXCEL
12.1 What is measured by the estimated standard error that is used for the
independent measures t statistic?
(Note: For problems 12.2 – 12.3 below, be sure and show a full diagram of the
research design as shown in the Formula Sheet and chart attached to this
assignment packet. Without using Excel or Chegg, show all steps and calculations
you made for each test following the process outlined in the t-test formula sheet
handout. What statistical decision do you make in each case? Finally report your
results professionally in APA format as found in last step of the formula sheet
attached to this assignment packet).
12.2 One sample has n = 14 with SS = 1500, and a second sample has n = 14 with SS =
1600.
a. Find the pooled variance for the two samples.
b. Compute the estimated standard error for the sample mean differences
(i.e. for the two groups).
c. If the sample mean difference (i.e. M1 – M2) is 8 points, is this enough to
indicate a significant difference for a two-tailed test at α = .05 level?
d. If the sample mean difference (i.e. M1 – M2) is 12 points, is this enough
to indicate a significant difference for a two-tailed test at α = .05 level?
12.3 An educational psychologist would like to determine whether access to
computers has an effect on grades for high school students. One group of n = 16
students has home room each day in a computer classroom in which each
student is assigned a computer. A comparison group n = 16 has home room in a
traditional classroom without computers. At the end of the school year, the
average grade is recorded for each student. The data are as follows:
Computer Home Room Traditional Classroom
M = 86 M = 82.5
SS = 1005 SS = 1155
a. Is there a significant difference between the two groups? Use a two-
tailed test with α = .05.

You are doing research on balance and fitness. To complete this research you will use theExcel file which has random sample of n = 12 men and n = 8 women. The file contains data about three questions..
1) How long each subject stayed balanced in a particular yoga pose.
2) How many days per week they exercise
3) What is their favorite exercise
Part 1 – Initial Report – March 26th You will analyze your data and compute the following statistics for each group:
1) The Mean and Standard Deviation of the number of seconds the subjects stayed balanced2) The Median number of days per week exercised
3) The Mode of the favorite exercise
Write a one – two paragraph introduction to your research, discuss how important exercise is,how yoga is good for the mind and body or any other aspect you would like to highlight about balance and fitness. Identify your hypothesis regarding the amount of time the twogroups will stay balanced, do you believe they will stay balanced for an equal amount oftime or do you think they will be different.
Copy and paste your data or otherwise present allyour raw data and your statistics in an organized manner
Part 2 – Final Report –You will analyze your data and compute the following statistics:
4) The 90% confidence interval of the mean (for each group)
5) Construct a complete hypothesis test and determine if the two groups have significantly different balance using α = 0.05.
Write a final page with your conclusions about the research project you undertook. Be sure to reference your initial hypothesis.
REFER to the RUBRIC on the reverse to ensure you submit all of the required components. You will only be graded on your Final Report. Late submission , will reduce grade.MA –
