FEEDBACK BELOW:
1) be sure that you don’t spend too much time summarizing. You want to make sure that you are analyising. Remember that I’ve read the story. Your job is to support your thesis statement.
2) You haven’t included ANY citations in your text. You must cite any information (quoted or paraphrased) that you pulled from a source. If you fail to do so, you will receive a failing grade on your paper. You are also required to have three sources. I only see one. Be sure that you review the requirements. 🙂
Requirements:
Paper will be 4-6 pages long and follow
all MLA guidelines.
It should be typed in 12pt Times New
Roman font and double-spaced with the
appropriate headings. – no title page
Students will need a minimum of 3
outside sources (not including the text
it’s the fourth source) with limitations set
as follows:
Other student essays found on the
Internet will not be considered
acceptable sources.
There is no limit on the number of books
used.
The course text will count as a source.
**hint: AVL sources will build your
citations for you… Work smarter, not
harder.
No bound encyclopedia
No more than two Internet sources
Sources from www.avl.lib.al.us will be
considered book sources, and you can
use as many of these as you would like!
Parenthetical documentation and a
works cited page are required and
should be done in MLA format. Failure to
do so will result in an automatic F – no
kidding and no arguing.

Choose 1 of the 3 topics and write a 2 FULL page response in MLA format. I have attached the text “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.pdf”.
Topics:
1. How is McMurphy the symbol of a savior in the novel? How does he “save” several of
the patients in the ward? What are your views on the ultimate price that he pays in order
to be a savior?
2. How would the story be different if it took place today? Do you think McMurphy would
have had the same outcome? How would modern times impact the story and the main
characters? Elaborate as much as you can.
3. Provide an alternate ending to the story. How would you have ended this story? How
would this new alternate ending impact Nurse Ratched, McMurphy, the Chief, and other
patients in the ward? Elaborate as much as you can.
Instructions: The response is informal, and you may use first person. It is your own
opinion, but you do need to back up what you say by referring to situations or quotes (if you can)
from the novel.
If you do not use quotes, at the very least, you need to refer to events or situations that happen in
the novel to support your claims.

For this essay you will “evaluate” three reviews of staged performances of Eugene O’Neill’s play Long
Day’s Journey into Night.
these are the 3 reviews: (https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/25/theater/long-days-journey-into-night-review.html), (file:///C:/Users/camya/Downloads/Long_Days_Journey_Into_Night.PDF), (file:///C:/Users/camya/OneDrive/Desktop/ldjin%20mm.pdf)
A review is typically a short article written about a book, movie, TV series, work of art, a restaurant,
or for the purposes of this assignment, a play; the purpose of a review is to evaluate the quality of the
performance, to identify what is good and/or bad about it, thereby helping the reader to decide
whether it’s something worth experiencing for himself. Reviewers usually have some credential or
background that gives them the authority to make such judgments.
In the body paragraphs you will evaluate the credibility of each source based on the criteria presented in the PowerPoint lesson on Evaluating Sources. You will provide relevant details about the publication, writer, and content of the review. For example, is the publication popular or academic? What are
the writer’s credentials? What can be said about the writer’s credibility based on the content of the
review?
Finally, conclude the essay with a paragraph or two that ranks all three sources based on their
credibility. Even if all of them are very good—and they probably will be—which one do you think is
the most appropriate for an academic audience? Which one is the least appropriate? This involves
making several claims of value, so make sure to give your reader reasons for your judgment.
