This assignment builds on your readings and discussions about government/politics, economics, and other social science disciplines. This project is a written research assignment (text = 4 to 6 pages not including title page and reference list in APA format) Please obtain AT LEAST FOUR (4) scholarly journal articles or books to address your selected issue. In the library, “One Search” works well and the Databases in the library that might help would be Academic Search Premier, Social Science Abstracts, Berkeley Electronic Press, CIAO (Columbia International Affairs Online), Contemporary Women’s Issues, GenderWatch, Lexis Nexis, and PAIS International. Do not use web sources such as “about”, “simply psychology” or “Wikipedia” for your references.
Below is a list of some possible topics, but you may pick another social issue that interests you to discuss from the perspective of government/politics and economics. But it MUST be approved by the instructor.
The importance for international business people to be familiar with the cultural features of those with whom they are conducting business
The impact of a particular health policy/legislation on groups or individuals.
The impact of a particular social policy/legislation on groups or individuals.
Whether democracy is good for all countries
The status of economic disparities and its impact in the United States
The impact of particular foreign policy on people in a particular country
The impact of terrorism on people in the U.S.
Voting patterns of different socioeconomic or cultural/ethnic groups in the U.S.
Voting patterns in a country other than the U.S.
Women’s rights in the U.S. or another country
Functions of the media in the U.S.
The impact of terrorism on people in the region in which it occurred.
Select your topic and discuss all of the following:
1. The political perspective of the issue: the political reasons for the development or impact of the issue.
2. The economic perspective of the issue: the economic reasons for the development or impact of the issue.
3. An integrated analysis of the issue using both the political and economic perspectives.
