Embryonic stem cells are stem cells that come from the inner cell mass of an early-stage pre-implantation embryo. When used, these cells can be used to replicate any type of cell in the human body. The uses for them are endless. Diseases that could potentially be treated by embryonic stem cells include some blood and immune-system-related genetic diseases, cancers, and disorders; juvenile diabetes; Parkinson’s; blindness and spinal cord injuries. Three relevant facts about embryonic stem cell research are:
Embryonic stem cell research manipulates and destroys human embryos.
Embryonic stem cell research is relatively new and may lead to some health complications.
Embryos are being created just for research and not for human life.
