Reflection Paper #1
Combines literary and historical ways of knowing
Due: Week 6, by 11:59pm on Saturday February 18th
Late papers will receive a 5 point deduction per day it is late. I have provided a sample APA 7th Edition paper and APA tips located in the Class Resources folder in the Modules tab. Be sure you follow the example. Most students miss points because they do not follow the general paper requirements/APA format.
General requirements for ALL papers:
Include an APA formatted title page (this does not count toward the page requirement). Title page should include the title, your name, Indiana State University, course, instructor’s name, and the due date. No other information should be included.
You do NOT need a running head
Use APA section headings. This helps to organize your paper and makes it easier to read. I suggest using the major sections of the paper as your section headings.
Double-spaced.
12 point font.
Times New Roman font
1” margins.
Standard indent at the beginning of each paragraph.
Avoid using contractions
Reference Page (this does not count toward the page requirement)
**You will earn a Zero on the assignment for plagiarizing (representing someone else’s work as your own).
Reflection Paper #1 Requirements
Pick either His Girl Friday or Norma Rae for Reflection Paper #1
Paper Length: 5 pages (no more, no less)
Title Page (does not count toward the page requirement)
Pages 1: Summarize the film
Use your own words to briefly summarize the movie
Identify the major characters but do not waste space identifying all the actors and the role they played.
This is NOT a play by play of the movie
Page 2-3: React to the film
Do not express whether you thought the movie was boring, exciting, well acted (etc.).
Use “I,” but do not use an informal or unprofessional tone.
Make sure that this section is coherent and well organized
Express your reaction to critical events in the movie and how these critical events might connect to your life.
Express how you may have acted/reacted under similar circumstances
Pages 4-5: Analysis—connect the movie to the major themes of this class
Provide an in-depth analysis of the parts of the movie that connect to the major themes of this class—gender roles in the workplace, social expectations of women, oppression and freedom.
What did this movie teach you about how gender impacts expectations of women in the workplace during the mid-20th century?
How have expectations changed? In what ways have they stayed the same?

Cite only the movie using APA formatting
Do not use any other sources.

At least 10 bullet points per article, about 1-2 bullet points per page depending on the total pages of the article, if it is about 10 pages long, then about 1 bullet point a page. If it is 20 pages long, then about 1 bullet point every 2 pages. Main ideas of the article, thank you. I attached a google doc of the 5 articles.

A short description of what the article is about

This will be a little bit of a different structure. I would like you to, for this week, connect the events of the past to the present. For the Current Event discussion roundup, students must locate and refer to one current event article, website, or social media post when addressing the Flipgrid post. The current event article should relate to one of the themes or topics being discussed in the module; the article can relate directly to the time and place under review or it can relate to the themes or issues being discussed. Address the questions below in your post.
A way that we can find the article or post – via sharing a URL link, taking note of the username of the social media user, or giving the title of the article
