In St. Augustine’s Essential of the Psalms, New City Press of the Focolare, NY; In Part II, Exposition 1 of Psalm 33 (pages 113-114), he provided an exposition of Psalm 30: verses 1-11. In this psalm, who is speaking and how do Unity and Body make the One because of Charity. However, before we get there, page 114 talks of the affection of Christ and uses the Phases “He affected and He drummed on the doors into the city” saliva trickled down his beard… meaning that Jesus is truly human..sacrificial comparison of Him being truly human with his beard and Him truly God with the bread for the Eucharist. How would you interpret and connect para 9 when on page 121, Augustine’s Text of Psalm 30:1 states, “A psalm of David, when he altered his behavior in the presence of Abimelech And forsook him, and went away….then Augustine’s Text in 1 Samual 21: 12-13, “David was afraid of him (Saul) as well, and altered his behavior in front of them all, affecting madness. He drummed on the doors into the city, and was carried in his own hands, and fell down outside on a threshold, as saliva dribbled down his beard. Please do explanation of this passage and how it applies to Charity which is Unity of One Body of Christ, the Church through the Eucharist. How then, would you tie para 9 to para 10 which is on page 120 titled, “the scandal of the Eucharist.”
