The minimum word count for each reply is 50 words. Critique their ideas to help them form a good research problem/question. Give feedback with the following in mind:
Does either of the top two choices seem appropriate for a five-page paper? (For example, is it too narrow, too broad, etc.)
Do you think your colleague will be able to support the topic with current references?
Be respectful. You can provide productive feedback in a supportive manner. Remember your feedback might help your colleague fine-tune their research question into one that can be tackled in this class. Full points for rich responses. Partial points for weak responses.
Research Problem 1.
Problem Statement:
For my research project, I will be looking into the potential harm caused by long-term use of given breathing treatments to patients. As respiratory therapist, we are faced with the challenge to have to provide an aerosol treatment to these patients (such as Asthmatics, COPD, CHF, to name a few) and be exposed to the treatment itself. We do have personal protective equipment as well as filters, but the treatment lasts about 5 minutes, but we also breathe it in.
Question:
How can we lessen the potential harm of inhaling the breathing treatment?
What are some long-term affects found in being exposed to breathing treatments such as (DuoNeb, Pulmicort and Performist, or even Albuterol)?
Are there some medications that could cause a greater risk?

Aim/purpose:
These are a few of the challenges we face as respiratory therapists. The goal is to lessen the potential secondhand harm from providing these breathing treatments. This would help alleviate any potential harm even sooner.

Objectives:
How can we better the severity score for patients and switch them to MDI’s sooner?
Examine the personal protective equipment used by respiratory therapist.
Determine the most effective way to give a breathing treatment.

Research Problem 2.
Problem Statement:
For my research project I will be looking into one of the many complications that can occur after delivering a newborn, such as uterine atony. Pregnant women who develop complications during their pregnancy are at a greater risk of developing placenta previa which in return can lead to uterine atony. Uterine atony is a potential risk that continues to effect women and the need to educate both younger and older women is necessary.
Question:
How can we prevent uterine atony?
Who is more at risk for uterine atony?
What are the long-term effects of having had uterine atony?
Aim/purpose:
Upon delivering a baby, women are exposed to the potential risk of developing uterine atony. Additional preventative care needs to be addressed to lessen this risk.
Objectives:
How can we better the education to pregnant women to help lessen the potential risk of uterine atony?
Examine the different ethnic groups that are at a greater risk including younger and older women.
Determine the most effective way to help prevent uterine atony.
