In these role plays you will be asked to focus particularly on the counseling skills that have been introduced up to that point in the semester. This first role play (10 minutes in length) should be recorded and accompanied by a reflective paper in which you consider your comfort with the skills you employed, what you did that you believe was particularly beneficial for the “client,” what you may have done differently, and your feelings about the overall experience. Both the recording and the reflective paper should be turned in to your lab instructor on the day that they are due. Papers can be submitted via Blackboard, and audio recordings can be submitted in whatever format is convenient. Your grade will be based on both your skill in employing the microskills as well as your reflections on the skills you demonstrated.
