ARTICLE CRITIQUE ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
OVERVIEW
In this course, you will submit 2 Article Critiques. The critiques are designed for you to explore
research related to current topics in sport tourism, to make connections between the research and
the texts, and to make applications to practitioners working in the sport tourism industry.
INSTRUCTIONS
Each Article Critique will summarize and apply 3 peer-reviewed journal articles that are related
to the topics presented in the course.
The first critique must consist of 3 articles related to a single topic from Modules 1, 2, or 3.
The Article Critiques must be written in current APA format (including in-text citations). The
Article Critiques must include the following items:
A title page (this must state your name, TOUR 603, the chosen topic, and the date).
An abstract summarizing the topic.
The body of the critique (1,500-1,800 words not counting the title page or reference list).
A reference list in current APA format.
Each Article Critique must begin with either a brief summary of the study’s purpose, the sample,
and the method applied or a summary of the theoretical foundation for the paper (this will
depend on whether your articles are scientific studies or theoretical articles). Additionally, you
must discuss significant findings and/or the main points of the articles. The summary of each
article must be approximately 300-400 words. Following the 3 summaries, you must include a
discussion of how those 3 articles relate to the textbook reading/topic and/or their usefulness to
someone in the sport tourism industry as well as well as a personal response to the articles.
The Article Critiques must be written in your own words and must not include direct quotations.
