The objective
The purpose of this project is to find out which factor is most important for plant growth: sunlight, water, or quality of soil
Outcome
The outcome of the project is to better understand how “terroir”, the growing elements of wine can impact the outcome of a plant. This is highly relatable to wine in that wine has different tastes, smells, and output based upon the “terroir”, also known as the growing environment of the grapes
Methods/Materials
In research there is a control and a variable in which is tested. The control is a constant or can be thought of as the standard. The variable is one element that is altered from the standard to test if it makes a difference or not. Students should plant two plants.Variables include: amount of water given, sunlight, and soil/fertilizer. Therefore, a standard method of 2 of these variables will be the same and the other variable will be altered. Each student will then do research on the plant and the controlled elements and decide on a way to manipulate the variable. Students will need to go to a store and purchase, soil, 2 pots, and seeds of a fruit or vegetable to grow. Students will be assigned a sub-group on an iLearn discussion board to investigate how other students growing conditions change. After conducting research each student will be responsible for coming up with their hypothesis. Each week students will record what is happening with each plant. Upon completion of the experiment (week 13) each student will write a research paper about their findings.
For Example:
Students will grow broccoli
Students will conduct research to investigate optimal growing methods for broccoli pertaining to water. The optimal method will be the control. As San Francisco has a unique climate, they will then investigate similar fruits/vegetables, climatic conditions, water retention based upon the soil given. Each student will then be responsible for two plants in their home, the control plant and the variable. The reason for 2 plants is due to that every student’s housing location is different and the control will help to compare more accurately with the other group members.

This is where you explain why the results happened they way they did
This is the place where you bring back in the literature from the review and how it relates to the findings of your true (is it the same, is it different, why?)
Always “suggests” or “may have been caused” or “Might”. Avoid definitive words like “always”, “This happened because”
Wrap it all up
Provide a short paragraph on how wine growing can
