Initial Post Instructions
Describe a hypothesis test study that would help your work or conclusions in some way. Describe what variable would be tested and what would be your guess of the value of that variable. Then include how the result, if the null were rejected or not, might change your conclusions or actions in some way.

A hypothesis is a claim about a population parameter, such as ,u(population mean) or p (population proportion). In hypothesis testing, there are two hypotheses, the null hypothesis and the alternative hypothesis. Through the null hypothesis the claim always contains the condition of equality and the alternative hypothesis has 3 different possibilities. Within the healthcare world there are many different types of situations to evaluate for outcomes.  We have to test these hypotheses to help us intirate changes.
My hypothesis test that I would like to complete is if certification really improves patient outcomes. Does advanced certification help nurses provide better and safer care and are they necessary to work in critical care units? I would separate the group into nurses with advanced certification and nurses without advanced certification.  We would monitor the patient outcome from both sets of nurses and see if there was a difference in the care being provided.  Overall, this testing could be used to determine if critical care units want to enforce requirements for advanced certification in order to work in the units.
Overall, I think that the results may vary depending on a variety of things, such as experience, education level and facility and level of care provided. While advance certification is a great thing to have and most likely improves patient outcomes, I think these other factors may also play a big role. Because I have personally learned a lot of valuable information and skills throughout my career from nurses and other staff members with less education and less certification than myself.
