Likewise, Jamal now understands how our exposure to messaging can significantly influence our perception of what is considered normal; the views conveyed by todays social media influencers can have a dramatically positive or negative impact on the biopsychosocial well-being of their followers. Perhaps most importantly, Jamal has observed the ways in which compassion, empathy, and acceptance of our individual differences can promote an inclusive, diversity-positive view of mental illnessand a more humanistic definition of what it means to be abnormal.
Now more than ever, Jamal is a firm believer in the idea that we are all abnormal in our own unique ways.
