Essay 8
Please make sure that your Essay responses are typed. The essay should be no longer than 2
pages double-spaced with a cover page included. A work cited page must be included citing the
sources you used. If you are unsure how to cite in APA or MLA, I would recommend consulting
with a librarian that can assist you. There are also useful videos on citing available via YouTube.
Instructions: Please use Times New Roman or Arial Black 12-point font size. Make sure it is
double-spaced and that you have answered all the questions.
Argue Your Case
1. A friend is extolling the virtues of her new geothermal heat pump. It has a COP of 4, so
she argues that it uses only one-quarter of the energy a conventional heating system
would use. Formulate a more realistic assessment of the heat pump’s energy
consumption.
2. A member of your national legislature claims that “the answer to all our energy problems
lies right beneath our feet” and proposes a crash program of intensive geothermal energy
development. Develop an argument either supporting or opposing this program.

Project Proposal: Hurrican Katrina Impacts on poor urban areas
Please write a project proposal/abstract on ‘Hurricane Katrina’
Include a short descriiption of the how this weather event contributed to the vulnerability of poor urban communities and their capacity to recover.

Making Irish Black Pudding using beef
This is using beef(meat) to produce black pudding for my Final Year Project rather than liquid blood, however dry blood powder is still being used as one of the ingredients. The beef is from Piedmontese cows. Please list sources if you do use them and don’t hesitate to ask me.
