about other theories and methods in the key texts. general assessment guidance assignment title: critically discuss two theories/models and their possible use by a social worker, with reference to a provided case study. the assignment is an essay of 2,500 words. this assignment will enable you to demonstrate understanding of the various theories, models and methods discussed in lectures, and how you are able to apply these in practice by use of a case study. you are expected to present a clearly structured and argued essay that demonstrates critical analysis skills, academic writing skills, robust referencing and your understanding of social work practise and the application of theory and method. you must write in the third person and ensure that you choose theories/ that have been covered in the module teaching. you must include a discussion about the application of the theory/model/approach related to the provided case study and critical analysis of your chosen theories. how it could be applied to underpin an assessment, to inform about support networks and dysfunctional relationships, and aid in the production of an ecomap which will help you target direct work or support. critically reflect on the advantages and disadvantages of applying these theories/models in this case study. critically consider the benefits and limitations of the chosen theories/models in relation to the case study. briefly discuss and consider one other theory/model could have been helpful and outline why. the discussion/critique of the theories/models must include clear references to reading you have undertaken that support your arguments and demonstrate skills of critical analysis. as part of your critical reflection, remember to consider the theories/models in relation to anti discriminatory and anti- oppressive practice, both in general and in relation to the case study. you must include an exploration of any diversity based, cultural and ethical issues, in implementing intervention/direct work methods with the specific service user/group referred to in the case study. provide an example, as an appendix, of a relevant theory- based tool that could have been used in relation to the case study. this must relate to one of your chosen theories or models and should have been discussed in your essay. it must be specific to the case study and not be a general diagram or uncompleted tool example.
