Sports are considered to be a microcosm of society. In this sense, society’s impact and development can be reflected in sports from youth to professional levels. Many of the things we learn in sports are turned into life application on the bigger stage such as teamwork, dedication, hard work, socializing, etc.
For the first part of the assignment, in no less than 1 page, provide three (3) positive attributes gained from sports participation and explain how each translates from sports to lifetime impact.
For the second part of the assignment, in no less than 1 page, as sports are considered a microcosm of society, many laws which apply to the general every day life of individuals apply to sports along with other laws and guidelines set forth by organizations, the sport rules, and other legal findings. Discrimination issues have been one of the aspects which have shown in sports and society so much that organizations and sports are putting in additional rules to go with Federal and State Laws such as Title IX and others. Two such policies which are in effect are the NFL’s Rooney Rule and the NCAA Inclusion of Transgender Policy. Pick one of the two (Rooney Rule or NCAA Transgender Policy) and summarize the rule/policy then explain how it has impacted sports.
