This week’s paper is designed to help you identify assessment for instructional best practices widely acknowledged to produce learning gains. First, choose one of these instructional best practices:
1. Portfolio assessment
2. Project-based learning
3. Cooperative learning
If there is a particular instructional best practice you would like to learn more about that is not on this list, you can propose that to the professor (do not get started without approval, though).
Next write a paper that summarizes some of the scholarly research available about the method and explains what kind of assessment is necessary to ensure that the method indeed promotes mastery of intended student learning outcomes. Scholarly publishing about the chosen instructional method may or may not include insights about assessment. If it does not, you should offer your opinion, based on readings throughout the course so far, on what kind of assessment is best suited to this instructional practice.
I have also provided good articles for your consideration in Start Here/Course Resources/Week 6/Week 6 Written Assignment Articles. You need a minimum of 2 sources for your research basis. Use the textbook when possible.
This 3-5 page paper also has an APA formatted title page with both running heads (see Start Here/Course Resources for the start of your paper, the title page example), introduction, body, conclusion, and reference page. The title page and reference page is not part of the 3-5 page count. Please use level-1 content headings above each section. See page 62 of the APA manual to show how to format level-1 (and other) headings. If other sub-levels are needed, follow the same page 62 of the APA manual for their proper formatting and placement. You need a minimum of 2 sources: your state’s education website, KU online library, and/or the textbook.

___/20: The student demonstrates knowledge of the importance of alignment between intended learning outcomes, learning activities, and assessment.
Quality of Writing (20 Points)
___/5: Format – Text meets APA/MSE standards.
___/5: Organization – Organization of paper demonstrates critical thinking. (Paper contains cover page, introduction, conclusion, headings, and effective transitions.)
___/5: Precision – Student uses terminology and writes clearly and concisely.
___/5: Mechanics – Student spells, constructs sentences, and punctuates correctly.
