You are hanging out with some friends. The topic of race relations comes up in conversation. One of your friends says, “I know that there are still some instances of racism, but those are just committed by a few individuals who are still hanging on to racist beliefs. That’s not how the whole country feels anymore. C’mon, we had Obama as our President!” Now that you’ve learned the material in Lesson Seven, how would you respond to your friend? Use at least 3 pieces of information (vocabulary, theories, concepts, or examples) you learned in this Lesson to support your explanation to your friend.
You are having dinner with your extended family. The topic of race relations comes up in coversation. Your uncle says, “It’s too bad the different races in this country can’t learn to get along. I guess there are just too many differences between us. It’s not like we can change genetics.” Now that you’ve learned the material in Lesson Seven, how would you respond to your uncle? Use at least 3 pieces of information (vocabulary, theories, concepts, or examples) you learned in this Lesson to support your explanation to your uncle.
Step Two: Reply back to one classmate. After reading your classmate’s response to the scenario, what is one follow-up question you anticipate their friend/familymember might ask them?
