Complete the Following:
Choose an organization’s website you visit regularly, one where you read a lot of the content.
Keep it G-Rated, and no overtly religious or political sites.
You
may want to use this website for the remainder of the course (for analysis, a content strategy proposal, and two more projects). As a
heads up, you will be choosing your primary organization shortly.
For this website:
write out the purpose, and
a brief audience analysis.
Then, do the following:
1. Identify the writing voice of the website in a word or two using a label or category that describes its essential characteristic.
Is it formal, professional, institutional, fun & friendly, direct, clever, poetic, etc.?
Does this match the needs of the audience and purpose of the website?
If not, what type of writing voice would work better? Identify the more appropriate voice in a word or two.
2. Generate a list of attributes for that particular voice.
For example, the attributes of a professional voice are direct, strong, authoritative, fact-based, etc.
3. Role-play by writing something in that voice, at least a paragraph.
See the examples in chapter 4 for more information.
Include
a link to the organization’s website at the top of your post.
Remember, because this source is a website, a References list is not
needed. 🙂
