Your assignment is to visit one of the museums listed at the top of the page ( I already visited the Somali museum and to fill out the virtual worksheet while you are there. The worksheet outlines an artistic treasure hunt! Your task is to find one work of art that interestingly utilizes each of the 8 Elements. (8 different works). Bring your phone/camera because you will be asked to take photos of the works of art that you choose (and their title cards) to upload them into a word document for the assignment. You will write a short essay describing how each element is exemplified in the artwork you have chosen. Each artwork will exemplify more than one element, but you will just focus on the one that you think is most strongly expressed. In this section, you will also write about the media that was used and how the media is specifically articulated in the element that you are highlighting.
When you have completed that, you’ll then choose 2-3 of the pieces you have photographed and analyze the use of the Principles of Design in each one. You must choose carefully, because I want you to write about each of the 6 Principles at least once.
*Please use the attached word document as a worksheet. Download the document and save it to your computer. Fill in each section as completely as you can. Please note that you must take your own photos! :). Enjoy your museum visit.
