Introduction:
The introduction section establishes what your research project is, why you are doing it and any necessary background information the audience needs to understand the project. The idea is to start with the most broad information first, and then narrow in on your specific topic and hypotheses. For example, if you were studying race differences in stress exposure, you would want to define what stress exposure is. You would then talk about the importance of studying stress exposure by race/ethnicity, and then what aspects of race and stress exposure that have not been studied yet. You can then lead to explaining your research project, why it fills that knowledge gap, and why it is significant. Lastly, detail your alternative hypotheses in this section toward the end. This section is usually around one to two paragraphs.
Start researching some background literature for your introduction section of the poster.You should aim to include at least 4-5 references/citations in your introduction.
