The thesis of this research project is about exploring Patriarchal Society within contemporary South Korean Cinema. Particularly the various topics such as Gender representations, Class studies (Rich & poor) and Colonial in South Korea, that is shown and explained in Films, Television Drama and Korean Dramas examples including the Korean film directors & researchers that observes patriarchal society overall. This study of this Research project it will introduce with a Literature Review and Methodology, with various topics that will be discussed in this study research of the Patriarchy Society with South Korean Society and South Korean Cinema as a whole. Following along with topics in more detail with examples that specifically shows Patriarchy overall of its reality within society. In addition, the case studies topics that were mentioned above that will also be involved with examples of contemporary Korean films & Dramas that will be mentioned for instance: Train to Busan (2016) concentrating on Patriarchy Society in Korea, Parasite (2019) focusing with Class studies, Squid Game (2021) Gender Representation and Hand Maiden (2016) towards Colonial in Korea. This will reflect on the relations in Korean society, on the significant role played by culture in forming the notions of what it is like to be in a Patriarchy Society system that occurs within South Korea, whilst revealing the consistency and changes of its approach. The research question will be applied to this project that will be present and support towards my argument e.g., Why are South Korean gender roles represented in different ways of their characters approach to its reality? Why is Feminism been issued and noticed more than Masculine in their characters roles? And lastly Why is representation of gender roles often questioned in South Korea Cinema? Mainly overall My hypothesis is ‘Why is Patriarchy society represented in Korean Films and Dramas that interpret either in an advantage or disadvantage way within Korean society?
