In order to write a case study paper, you must carefully address a number of sections in a specific order with specific information contained in each. The guideline below outlines each of those sections.
Section
Information to Include
Introduction (patient and problem)
Explain who the patient is (Age, gender, etc.)
Explain what the problem is (What was he/she diagnosed with, or what happened?)
Introduce your main argument (What should you as a nurse focus on or do?)
Pathophysiology
Explain the disease (What are the symptoms? What causes it?)
History
Explain what health problems the patient has (Has she/he been diagnosed with other diseases?)
Detail any and all previous treatments (Has she/he had any prior surgeries or is he/she on medication?)
Nursing Physical Assessment
List all the patient’s health stats in sentences with specific numbers/levels (Blood pressure, bowel sounds, ambulation, etc.)
Related Treatments
Explain what treatments the patient is receiving because of his/her disease
Nursing Diagnosis & Patient Goal
Explain what your nursing diagnosis is (What is the main problem for this patient? What need to be addressed?)
Explain what your goal is for helping the patient recover (What do you want to change for the patient?)
Nursing Interventions
Explain how you will accomplish your nursing goals, and support this with citations (Reference the literature)
Evaluation
Explain how effective the nursing intervention was (What happened after your nursing intervention? Did the patient get better?)
Recommendations
Explain what the patient or nurse should do in the future to continue recovery/improvement
Your paper should be 3 pages in length and will be graded on how well you complete each of the above sections. You will also be graded on your use of APA 7 style and on your application of nursing journals into the treatments and interventions. For integrating nursing journals, remember the following:
Make sure to integrate citations into all of your paper
Support all claims of what the disease is, why it occurs and how to treat it with references to the literature on this disease
Always use citations for information that you learned from a book or article; if you do not cite it, you are telling your reader that YOU discovered that information (how to treat the disease, etc.)
Introduction summarizes the case comprehensively and prepares the reader for the remainder of the paper.
Identifies and thoroughly explains the pathogenesis of the disease topic. Information is scientifically sound, thorough, supported and sufficient.
Provides a detailed patient history, physical assessment findings, treatment, and related treatments for the disease topic. Information is scientifically sound, thorough, supported and sufficient.
Provides thorough and detailed nursing diagnosis and patient goal. Information is scientifically sound, supported and sufficient.
Thoroughly details the nursing interventions. Detailed explanation of nursing goals.Rationale is thorough, supported and sufficient.
Provides thorough and insightful explanation of the effectiveness of the nursing intervention. Information is scientifically sound, supported and sufficient in detail
Provides an overall thorough explanation of patient recommendations. Clinical findings are supported with evidence, compared and rationalized thoroughly. Recommendations for continued recovery/improvement explained and supported.
Meets all the requirements related to length. There is a minimum of 3 scholarly resources with at least 1 non-internet source. All references are correctly cited in APA format. The student shows a solid grasp of APA formatting, paraphrasing and citations.

Case Study and Questions
Gloria is a recent college graduate and a single mom to 16-year-old Gary. Gloria and Gary used to be close. But recently, Gloria has noticed that Gary is only focused on what his friends think about him. Gary recently snuck out of his bedroom window and went to a party when he was supposed to be studying for a big exam. Gloria caught him coming home and smelled alcohol on his breath and marijuana on his clothes. Gloria is shocked and appalled by her son’s recent behavior and grounded him for two weeks.
Gloria comes to you because she needs some advice on how to handle her son’s poor choices. Using what you have learned about the adolescent brain and social development in Chapter 3 of the webtext, answer the questions below to help Gloria understand why her son is making such poor choices, and pose some recommendations to help her solve her problem:
1. What are three physical changes that happen to teen brains that make it difficult for someone like Gary to weigh risk and reward? Write a paragraph to list the changes and describe how they affect decision making.
2. In addition to their brains changing, teens change socially. What do teens wrestle with as they develop socially? Why may Gary value his peers more than his mom? Write a paragraph that describes teens’ social development and how this may influence Gary’s decision to sneak out and go to the party.
3. What are two specific strategies or pieces of advice that you would recommend that Gloria can offer to help her son to make better decisions? Write a paragraph that offers advice that would help Gloria with her son’s development as he improves his decision-making skills.
4. Place yourself in Gloria’s shoes. How do you think Gloria is feeling? How can understanding her feelings help you offer constructive advice? Write a paragraph where you describe how you think Gloria is feeling and explain why understanding her feelings allows you to offer more constructive advice.

Purpose
One of the important outcomes from the course is that upon completion, students familiarize themselves with the usage of terminology and research associated with Human Physiology. Through reviewing research articles and constructing a written summary, you will gain exposure to terminology of microbiology in its application in the “real-world” setting.
Assignment

For this assignment, you will need to interview an individual who identifies with a non-Western and/or non-Judeo-Christian culture. This interview can be in person, over the phone, or by email. This may be someone you know personally or that you locate through a local cultural center, club, religious organization or even an embassy or consulate. You need to obtain permission from this individual to list their contact information in your paper in the event that your instructor needs to verify your work.
During your interview you should ask the following questions:
What do you identify as the most important or distinct practices of your culture?
How are gender roles addressed in your culture?
How is social power, authority, or social roles in a hierarchy expressed in your culture?
In class, we learned that in “honor-oriented societies,” worth comes from one’s role or group membership and in “justice-oriented societies,” worth comes from what one does or doesn’t do.
What is the role of honor/shame in your culture? Are honor/pride and dishonor/shame important concepts in your culture?
After your interview, write a 500-750-word paper summarizing and reflecting on the responses you
