Describe and analyze each artwork and connect the artwork and the term (bolded). Cover all 12 categories (see list below) for each work. Write at least a two-page paper on each work that you selected. Used the textbook (pages are marked) and cite other sources if used. You can write your paper as a narrative style (essay) or list style.

Research a favorite graphic designer. Written in Microsoft Word and presented with a cover sheet. Research chosen designer or design style and collect as many color sources of their work as they possibly can (a minimum of 10 per artist/designer, no more than two per page). Each designer or design period should include a 250 word snyopsis on the title page. The synopsis should included a brief history of accomplishments and an explanation as to why the student is interested in their work. MLA formatting should be observed.
A minimum of two sources should be cited at the bottom of each research.
Not include graphic designers (Gopi Prasannaa, Leta Sobierajski, Jan Tschichold and Paula Scher), because already researched these two people.

FINAL PROJECT DETAILS:
Due: November 30th by 11:59pm uploaded to Dropbox.
Based on our reading and discussion of No Exit:
Decide which design element (Scenic, Costume, Lighting, Sound) you want to do for No Exit.
Review the script to look for design details specifically stated in the text.
Create a Director’s Statement. We will discuss this in class. It’s your “concept” for show. Where are you setting it and what is the overall look you hope to achieve? Also consider how your setting will affect your design.
Scenic Design: Must design the whole set (don’t forget props); Costume Design: Must design all 4 characters; Lighting Design: Choose 3 moments from the play and design lights for those moments; Sound Design: Choose 3 moments from the play and choose those sounds.
Your project must be in a form that can be uploaded to Dropbox. This can be a Powerpoint w/pictures, links, etc. It could also be a Word doc with the appropriate pictures/media imbedded. There must be a visual (or aural for sound) component for each design. For Scenic, this could be a rendering, floor plan, or picture of a model YOU HAVE BUILT. For Costumes, this could a costume renderings or pictures of costume pieces. For Lighting, this could be pictures of lights and lighting effects for the three moments. For Sound, you can record or find the audio you wish to use and include links to the sounds for your three moments (make sure the links are working or I can’t give you credit for them). In class, we will go over ways you can accomplish this even if you aren’t artistic (I am not!).
(5 points on the final project grade) in addition to the visual or aural component, write a one-page description of your design, director’s statement, and justifications (from the play, from the director’s statement, from the group collaboration) for your design. It should be uploaded with your final project
Please view all the attachments to this question so you have the best idea of what to do

Part 2 Directions – Photography:
Upload your chosen photographs with an explanation of how each one relates to the relevant category. You need to show how you really UNDERSTOOD each category and how you achieved it in your photos!
OPTION 1:
Create a surrealist photomontage in COLOR that has a theme that relates to issues of today. The image must be at least 8 x 11 inches in size and have at least 10 different images taken from different places that create one composition that makes sense and has a theme. The theme can be about anything that you want to talk about..whether a political statement, a vision of the future, a reflection of the past, etc… BUT YOU MUST FIRST UNDERSTAND WHAT SURREALISM is….(research it!), etc.
To create the photomontage, you can either cut up magazines and glue them together to create the image or use copyright-free images you find on the internet and do it digitally.
WARNING!!!! WARNING: A PHOTOMONTAGE is not a COLLAGE. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE, while similiar—-there is a big difference. You will need to do some reading and research to understand the difference!!!–DO NOT SUBMIT A COLLAGE). This link will give you several examples you can look at–BUT YOU MUST KNOW THE DIFFERENCE: https://www.pinterest.com/dana9126/surrealism-and-photomontage
Describe each of the 10 images of your photojournalist assignment or the ones you chose for the photomontage you created. What was it about–how did they relate to your theme.
Do I have strong compositions?
Why did I choose the 10 images I did? How did they contribute to the overall project?
How well did I edit my photographs?
What would I do differently if I shot this assignment again?

Your assignment is to visit one of the museums listed at the top of the page ( I already visited the Somali museum and to fill out the virtual worksheet while you are there. The worksheet outlines an artistic treasure hunt! Your task is to find one work of art that interestingly utilizes each of the 8 Elements. (8 different works). Bring your phone/camera because you will be asked to take photos of the works of art that you choose (and their title cards) to upload them into a word document for the assignment. You will write a short essay describing how each element is exemplified in the artwork you have chosen. Each artwork will exemplify more than one element, but you will just focus on the one that you think is most strongly expressed. In this section, you will also write about the media that was used and how the media is specifically articulated in the element that you are highlighting.
When you have completed that, you’ll then choose 2-3 of the pieces you have photographed and analyze the use of the Principles of Design in each one. You must choose carefully, because I want you to write about each of the 6 Principles at least once.
*Please use the attached word document as a worksheet. Download the document and save it to your computer. Fill in each section as completely as you can. Please note that you must take your own photos! :). Enjoy your museum visit.

You will create a set of images — three, total — assembling in each case an image built from (at least) three separate source images, with each source assigned to an individual color channel. The suggested software to use for this assignment is Adobe Photoshop (part of Adobe’s “Creative Cloud” suite, available free for registered PSU students, staff, faculty). Other Photoshop-equivalent applications certainly exist (such as photopea.com, GIMP, Pixelmator, Paint.net, etc.), and you may use one of them instead if you are familiar with them; however, instructions will be provided for completing the image creation using Photoshop.
For the first image, the combination of the source images should yield an overall composition that is pleasing to view, as well as — to a trained eye — being “readable at multiple wavelengths” for information relevant to elements or processes occurring strongly at one wavelength versus another.
The second image will involve adjustments to the first. The astronomical object contained therein need not change. You will just be trying out different color assignments and visual weights, according to personal preferences.
The third image is a composition of your own, representing a subject (or subjects) of personal significance — a kind of visual essay. You get to create a new “multi-wavelength” image of your own using multiple images based on your interests (does not have to be astronomy). You might think of it like, “What could someone learn about you, by observing in different wavelengths?”
